Details: Deaf, Hard of Hearing, and CODA artists living in Washington State are invited to submit original artworks for a group exhibition at Slip Gallery in Seattle.
This call for entry invites artists whose work examines and expresses the Deaf experience from a cultural, linguistic, and intersectional point of view (also known as Deaf View/Image Art or De’VIA). De’VIA is NOT limited to Deaf artists only.
Work must have been completed in the past five years. All mediums are accepted, including, but not limited to, painting, sculpture, glass, metals, photography, mixed media, fiber, and ceramics. Creative and experimental approaches to the theme are welcome. Costs to ship selected artwork to the gallery will need to be covered by the artist. The curation of this exhibition will be performed by arts professionals and Deaf-owned business leaders.
The show will begin during the VIP members- and- artists-only opening reception Thursday, Nov. 3, 2022, and open to the public Friday, Nov. 4 through Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022. An ASL interpreter will be present during the opening reception.
Curation will be performed by Aistė Rye (@aiste.rye.art), other arts professionals, and Deaf-owned business leaders.
